Maine State Conference Purpose Statement

Our Core Value:

Local congregations empowered by the Holy Spirit led by pastors healthy of soul (body, mind, spirit) are primary to the work of God in the world.

Our Purpose:

  • to support Maine Advent Christian congregations as they seek to love each other as Jesus loved and make disciples by baptizing and teaching obedience to all the Master commanded. 
  • to maintain theological integrity among those credentialed by the conference including attention to the Advent Christian theological distinctives.
  • to support Maine Advent Christian pastors and staff as they develop lifestyles that foster physical, spiritual, theological and vocational health.

Our Action Items:

  • to develop congregational networks to share people and programming resources;
  • to assist congregations in securing pastoral leadership when asked;
  • to assist congregations in resolving a matter of conflict or discipline when requested by the local body;
  • to provide pastors trained in interim ministry whenever possible and desired by the local body;
  • to promote and encourage relationships with pastors for their spiritual growth and accountability;
  • to make available opportunities for pastors in the areas of spiritual formation, theological and vocational enrichment;
  • to maintain contact with Advent Christian students preparing for vocational ministry and match them with ministry internships when possible;
  • to provide for the credentialing of those entering vocational ministry.
  • to provide oversight of those holding active credentials offering support and encouragement in the pursuit of the highest ethical standards of pastoral ministry.
